Independent Living Support
Independent Living Support (ILS) is unique to Dumfries and Galloway and has provided outreach services to vulnerable people since 2002.
Founded in 2002 by Joy Usher, and receiving charitable status in 2006 Independent Living Support provides holistic – practical and emotional – care on a one-to-one basis.
Our work can range from simple interventions to prevent social isolation for instance, through to more complex mental health issues due to lived trauma, substance misuse, and/or care experience challenges. We achieve this with the combination of one-to-one and group activities. ILS can provide support services for both adult and youth via self-directed support (SDS)
The service is provided to vulnerable people, 16 years and over, in their home or the community to address their needs, encourage self-management and support resilience and move people from simply surviving to actively thriving…To read more about how Joy Usher founded Independent Living Support see Our History.
