ILS this last month have been successful in our application to the Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund (round 3) to scale our peer-to-peer project across Dumfries & Galloway. The project aimed at supporting those with lived trauma using their experience to help them understand their mental health journey to recovery. The initiative has also seen a spin out from the work with previous graduates from the 12-week course going on to support others recovery in the community in Dumfries through a support group called Building Healthy Foundations.
ILS are delighted at being awarded the funding as this will enable the peer-to-peer project to flourish from the original pilot project – which has taken place over the last two years in Dumfries – to the wider region; the extended project will now include youth peer-to-peer – 16-25 years and will allow for further staff training to support clients. The initial pilot project included ILS partners We Are With You – D&G Branch.
