Peer Support, Groups and Volunteering
ILS currently hosts three peer support groups:
- Beyond the Border – Fortnightly on a Friday for people with a diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder or Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder. Please see BYB poster attached to the website for details.
- BITE – Bringing Independence to Everyone hosts a mixture of people in recovery from mental health and/or substance misuse issues. People in this group state they benefitted from meeting others with similar issues; during 2021 these members took advantage of the fine weather and undertook some gardening projects. Please contact the office for details.
- Mother & Toddler group specifically for young mums aged between 16 and 25 held at Lincluden Community Centre. Please contact the office for details.
- ILS plan to develop more peer support opportunities in partnership with its Peer Support Mentors. Our other group work opportunities include a walking group – getting outside can be a challenge for people so we provide one-to-one desensitisation support as well as regular open groups. Please contact the office for details.
Volunteering @ ILS – ILS has four active volunteer Trustees and are always looking for members to contribute to our board. If you have experience in law, marketing, social support, management etc please get in touch with our Dumfries office.
